Bob Schneider has more than 20 Austin Music Awards to his credit, ranging from Musician, Male Vocalist and Songwriter of the Year to Best Bluegrass Band for Bob Schneider's Texas Bluegrass Massacre, a testament to his refusal to be hemmed in by genre classifications. Schneider has built his career as a working class musician and as a result has an institution of faithful followers all across the country with a mega-fan-base epicenter in Austin. There have been highs and lows but through it all he sustained and even flourished as an independent artist releasing five albums, hundreds of digital singles, and fronting three bands simultaneously.

Schneider has thrown everything but the kitchen sink into his music, and with it his whole heart. His rock ‘n’ roll-made-easy sound is perfect for a laidback summer night on the town. Schneider has a tendency to interact with the crowd as if they’re all friends hanging at his house for a BBQ – and you’ll feel right at home. Dertybird has been cultivating their mix of soul, blues and southern rock since 2006. Throughout the past three years, Dertybird has taken their musical concept and formed it into a legitimate touring band that is influencing other musicians and groups locally and around the country. Dertybird is a genuine rock band with unique original songs and nothing but reverence for the music and musicians that have influenced them along the way. Their songs and sound are a true reflection of their genuine desire and effort taken to create art that is real and moving for both the listener and the band.

He performed for years in various bands before embarking on a solo career. He dropped out of the University of Texas at El Paso where he studied art to front his first band, the funk-and-rap outfit Joe Rockhead. The band independently released three albums before disbanding immediately prior to signing with a major label. In 1999, Schneider became a solo act, though performing at first under the band name Lonelyland (which he later dropped as a band name, but titled his first major label album after). Schneider's musical approach as a solo artist has proven as eclectic as the diverse musical styles of his former bands—a little bit singer/songwriter, a whole lot of bits and pieces of funk, country, rock, and folk. Because of the sexual nature of some of his lyrics, Schneider's music has been labeled as "adult alternative" by some.
