Knifight began in Tyler, TX in 2002 as a solo project by John Gable. At the time, he was heavily influenced by bands such as Wolf Eyes, Pigface, and Nitzer Ebb. The sound he created could be described as Noise or IDM combined with spoken word. John played numerous shows around Texas and Oklahoma, developing a solid fan base. In 2006, Knifight picked up another member, Patrick Marshall. Patrick brought influences such as Animal Collective, Xiu Xiu, and LCD Soundsystem. The band evolved to include a more melodic, pop sound. The duo began playing more shows in East Texas and continued to attract more listeners. In 2009, Knifight evolved into its current line-up. They picked up guitarist, Nick Garrison, and bassist, John Hetherington, both of whom exercised their musical tastes upon the band's overall sound. The four-piece continued playing shows around East Texas before moving to Austin, TX, in the summer of 2010. 

In April of 2010, Knifight released its first EP titled, "Now We're Invisible". The EP contained five songs that the band recorded and produced at bassist John Hetherington's house in Tyler, TX. With the release of their EP online through knifight.bandcamp.com and iTunes, Knifight began playing shows around Austin and Houston, and have been playing ever since, gaining attention with each energetic live show. Their sound has been compared to Depeche Mode, Joy Division, Animal Collective, and LCD Soundsystem, to name a few. Knifight recently released a second EP titled "The End is Knifight" for free through their website, TheEndisKnifight.com in October of 2011. They had a blast at their official showcase in SXSW 2011 and are hoping to play another in 2012. They also performed at the Wild Frontier Fest in Austin and Rock the Republic Festival in Bryan/College Station.
