Last year, more than 400 rubberneckers crowded into Red 7 to witness a gruesome spectacle of regret, shame, and permanent disfiguration. We called it the Worst Tattoo in Austin contest. They beheld sloppy stick-and-pokes and professionally inked insanity before crowning one chili loving woman their winner. But now, the Worst Tattoo in Austin is back and like any sequel worth its salt, it's going to be bigger, weirder, and more over-the-top than ever.

On Thursday, February 23, the 29th Street Ballroom will host the second annual Worst Tattoo in Austin contest. With over $1,000 in tattoo prizes as bait - from such respected Austin ink parlors as Bijou Studio, Austin Tattoo Company, Atomic Tattoo, Shaman Modification, and Sailor's Grave - we're expecting twice the inked up eyesores we gathered last year. We will be celebrating everything from the finest ironic absurdities to the drunkest prison scrawls, but only one winner will be named the Worst Tattoo in Austin, with all the shame and glory that entails!
